I am a graduate of Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge with a passion for mixed-media collage, photography and design, with a studio based in Dover UK.
My work is inspired by many stimuli such as a dream, an emotion, language, something suddenly remembered, a song, or the experience of a particular moment. Exploring a juxtaposition of reality, fantasy, aesthetics and sensation, I examine some of the transient moments of real life experiences within both shared and autobiographical contexts.
As a young boy, I was enthralled by early experiments with my Kodak Instamatic camera, and photographic imagery remains an important part of my practice today. I am passionate about analogue film, in particular exploring the unpredictable nature of expired instant Polaroid film that still performs, despite the challenge of failing chemical reaction, and creates an image imbued with an ethereal beauty of its imperfection.
My postgraduate studies include 'Enterprise, Entrepreneurship and Innovation', 'Project Management', and 'Event Design' from the University Centre Folkestone.
I have been commissioned, published and my work exhibited in solo/group events throughout the UK, Europe & North America.
Some recent events:
5e Fête de l'estampe: printmaking festival -- East Kent Open Houses - open studios
All inked up: Artist's Book and Print Fair -- Reflections on the Landscape: Against the Tide
Sluice Biennial 2017 / London
Beyond the studio there is always so much more going on: whether it's the Sketchbook Project, gallery exhibitions, popular art-trails, open-air events and markets, or artist / handmade book projects.
If you are seeking an individual piece of bespoke artwork for yourself, as a gift or to mark a special occasion please contact me to discuss your requirements.
I am always excited to work on collaborative projects including murals, print editions, book projects and group shows / fairs, sometimes in quite unusual locations.
I have worked as an assistant university painting tutor, given demonstrations to groups, and lead small group adult tuition in printmaking and collage.
I design posters / flyers for art exhibitions and events, single page stories, and unique artist-made books. Some of these are archived in the Brooklyn art library.
I work with a range of mixed-media, including paper-cut collage, print, text, plus both digital and analogue photographic processes. I hope that you will find my images stimulating, and will want to explore a little further...
